God Talks

Walking Through Dark Valleys

Exodus 50:20

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives (souls).

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

I am writing from a place that many could consider a dark place; a valley of some sort filled with darkness and a sense of devastation where the stench of death is so prevalent. Had I encountered this episode of my life years ago, it would have utterly destroyed me. While my natural mind screams out rejection the Holy Spirit urges me to seek love. “God, how can I love when what is going on is devastatingly painful?”

In my own strength I know I cannot do it, so my cry to my Heavenly Father has been; “Help me love what you love”.   At this point in my life it is all I can say. I know in my heart that this attack from the enemy will be turned against him.  I don’t know when or how long it will take but I expect to see God’s ultimate purpose fulfilled.  He will turn this horrific event meant to destroy my loved one into good.

I remind myself that believing God’s promises must be intentional. It’s searching the scriptures, reading them out loud, singing them, memorizing them; whatever it takes to hide them in my heart. Believing in His promises is a choice I’ve made.

Lastly I seek his presence while I meditate on his word with the hope and expectation that I will see his loving hands work things out for His glory.
